The Regional Tourism Organization Žilina Tourism Region was established on February 21, 2012, pursuant to Act No. 91/2010 Coll. on the Promotion of Tourism, as amended. The organization is registered in the Register of Tourism Organizations maintained by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Slovak Republic under file number 10433/2012/SCR. KOCR ŽTK was established on the basis of the Founding Agreement between the Žilina Self-Governing Region and the Regional Tourism Organization Rajecká Dolina. Later, other member regional organizations joined: Region Liptov, Malá Fatra, Klaster Orava, OCR Kysuce, and Turiec-Kremnicko (currently operating as OOCR Turiec).
The Žilina Tourism Region unites the unique regions of Liptov, Orava, Kysuce, Turiec, and Horné Považie with the aim of systematically developing, coordinating, and promoting tourism throughout the entire Žilina Region. We actively contribute to ensuring that our region is perceived as an attractive and sustainable destination offering a variety of diverse experiences and high-quality services for both domestic and foreign visitors.
The Žilina Region is a region of majestic mountains, healing springs, and breathtaking views. Visitors who prefer quiet, lesser-known locations will also find what they are looking for here. However, the history and culture of our ancestors have also inscribed an unforgettable story into each of our regions. We proudly support the preservation of traditional crafts, folklore, unique architecture, and customs that have shaped the region for centuries. It is these authentic experiences, ranging from castle legends and folk customs to the tastes and aromas of traditional cuisine and the work of skilled local artisans that naturally complement and enrich the overall tourism offer in our region.
What we do and how we develop our region
We present and promote the Žilina Region with the aim of attracting domestic and foreign visitors to discover historical and natural beauties, spas, mountains, and countless sporting opportunities in both summer and winter.
Together with regional tourism organizations, we cooperate on various development projects, support regional events, and interconnect the regions with one another.
We participate in the maintenance and marking of cycling tourism routes, as well as the installation of additional infrastructure, such as bicycle service stations.
We create tourism products that immerse children and younger generations into the secrets of history and the beautiful corners of our region.
Our vision
We do not view tourism solely through the statistics of visitor numbers and overnight stays. We want our region to be a competitive, modern, and sustainable destination where visitors find high-quality services and authentic experiences. We support sustainable, year-round, and high-quality experiential tourism that brings added value to both visitors and local communities.
