Observation Platform on Veľká Rača
Kysuce
The low observation platform on Veľká Rača (1,236 m a.s.l.), the highest lookout point in the Kysuce region, offers stunning views of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, Pilsko, Babia Hora, the Malá Fatra Mountains, and the Roháče peaks in favorable weather. Several marked tourist trails lead to the summit, lined with blueberry bushes in the higher elevations. The state border with Poland passes directly through the peak, and the panorama is spectacular in all directions. The most common starting point for hikes to Veľká Rača is Oščadnica, but it is also accessible from the villages of Stará Bystrica, Nová Bystrica, and Zborov nad Bystricou.
How to get there?
Those who decide to hike from the Dedovka parking lot in Oščadnica can shorten part of the route by using the chairlift, which operates during both the summer and winter seasons. At the top station of the chairlift, you will also find one of the newer Kysuce lookout towers – the Dedovka lookout tower. This area also features the longest bobsled roller coaster in Slovakia, a rope park for children, bungee trampolines, and other attractions. There are also several snack bars that will provide pleasant refreshments.ROUTE: Oščadnica-Dedovka – Príslop (Zadedová chapel) – Pod Hladkou – Chaty na Rači – Veľká Rača
Warning
The lookout tower is among the oldest in the Kysuce region; time and weather conditions have taken a toll on the state of the stairs, and climbing it is entirely at your own risk.Galéria
