Stratenec Lookout Tower
Kysuce
The highest observation tower in the Javorníky Mountains is the wooden lookout tower on Mount Stratenec above Makov (1,055 m a.s.l.), which was built in 2008. Although it belongs to the cadastral area of the village of Papradno, many consider it a Kysuce lookout tower due to its convenient access from the Makov – Kasárne recreational area. The Kasárne resort was named after the barracks established in 1833. The garrison's task was to prevent the spread of cholera from Hungary to Moravia.
Beautiful views await you along the way, as the trail leads along the ridge of the Javorníky Mountains. On Mount Stratenec, there is a monument to the victims of World War II featuring three concrete crosses. There are 24 steps leading up to the tower. In good weather, Radhošť, Pustevny, and Lysá Hora can be seen on the horizon.
