Lookout Tower on Svederník Hill
Upper Považie Region
An interesting tourist lookout tower is located on the summit of Svedernícky vrch. It is a wooden structure built in the shape of a cross. It offers magnificent views of the valley around the Váh River, Žilina, the Malá Fatra Mountains, surrounding villages, the Strážov Mountains (Strážovské vrchy), the Bytča Basin (Bytčianska kotlina), and the Javorníky Mountains. The route to the lookout tower passes by the birthplace of the famous Slovak painter Vincent Hložník. The village was also the birthplace of the Latin poet Adam Vanoch. In the center of Svederník, you can also find the lovely Chapel of St. Stephen and a group of historical stone cellars.
How to get there?
No official tourist signs lead to the lookout tower, but local directional arrows will guide you. From the Chapel of St. Stephen, continue onto Hrnčiarska Street, at the end of which you need to turn left onto a forest path. The ascent will take you about 1 hour.Parking and Public Transport
The parking lot at the cultural house is also intended for visitors to the lookout tower. We also recommend using public transport – suburban bus service from Žilina, bus stop "Svederník, Jednota".Galéria
