On Two Wheels Through the Rajecká Valley

The route begins in the spa town of Rajecké Teplice near the small lake. It continues through the villages of Stránske, Kunerád, and Kamenná Poruba, where it connects to the Rajecká cycle artery, and together they proceed to Rajec at SNP Square. There, you can stop by the town museum, see the Renaissance town hall, or grab some refreshments. From Rajec, the route continues to the villages of Ďurčiná and Rajecká Lesná, where it passes by the unique Slovak Wooden Nativity Scene and the Calvary. Past Rajecká Lesná, the trail runs parallel to a busy road; however, after 400 meters, it turns towards the local district of Trstená. It then follows a forest path along the Šujské rašelinisko peat bog nature reserve, leading to a quarry and onward to the Košiare water reservoir, ending after approximately 1.3 km at the turn-off to Hvojtova dolina valley. This initial section of the route is 26.4 km long with an elevation gain of 384 meters.
To connect with the second section, which leads from Jasenové back to Rajecké Teplice, we recommend taking the green-marked trail from Rajec through Hvojtova dolina to Malá Čierna and Jasenové (6.8 km long with an elevation gain of 120 meters). From Jasenové, the cycle path continues to the village of Zbyňov. At the end of the village, you turn left, and a paved road along the Rajčianka river and a cottage settlement will lead you to a maintained path over the Rajčianka, from where it is just a short ride to the center of Rajecké Teplice. This final section of the route measures 4.6 km with an elevation gain of 35 meters. In total, this combined loop is 37.9 km long and features a total elevation gain of 539 meters.
The route runs along asphalt and dirt roads and is suitable for an MTB bike.
