Mikovčák's Lookout Tower on Kamenité

Mikovčák's Lookout Tower on Kamenité

Kysuce

A stone-and-wooden tourist lookout tower on Mount Kamenité (834 m a.s.l.), located on the main ridge of the Javorníky Mountains directly on the hiking trail between the villages of Dlhá nad Kysucou and Dlhé Pole. The tower was designed by Ing. Stanislav Mikovčák, after whom it is named. Opened to the public in 2005, it is considered the first official tourist lookout tower in the Kysuce region. Mikovčák's lookout tower is easily accessible, making it an ideal destination for easy hiking and families with children. Under good weather conditions, it offers magnificent views of the Kysuce Beskydy, the Kysuce Highlands, the Malá Fatra, and even the Tatra Mountains. Thanks to its easy accessibility, regular Three Kings' Day winter climbs are organized here by hikers from all directions. During the Christmas holidays, visitors can find a decorated Christmas tree inside the tower. The hike to Kamenité is easy and suitable for hikers, cyclists, and cross-country skiers in winter. A small chapel with a bench is located just a few minutes' walk west of the lookout tower.

The tower can be reached via numerous hiking trails. It is accessible from the Kysuce and Považie regions, as well as along the ridge of the Javorníky Mountains.
