Bystrica Cycling Route
Kysuce
The most popular cycling route in the Kysuce region is known as the Bystrica Cycling Route (Bystrická cyklomagistrála). It is part of the Kysuce Cycling Route and connects Krásno nad Kysucou with Nová Bystrica. Running safely away from main roads, the path leads through the Bystrická dolina valley, passing through Zborov nad Bystricou and Stará Bystrica all the way to Nová Bystrica. The Bystrica River adds a pleasant touch to the trip, creating several beautiful scenic spots along the way. Multiple rest areas have also been built along the trail. An interesting feature is that the route passes through areas where a historic forest switchback railway was once located, used for transporting harvested timber. There are several attractions near the cycling path that are well worth a visit – the Museum of Local History in Krásno nad Kysucou featuring a replica of a mammoth, historic bridges in Krásno nad Kysucou, World War II bunkers, the unique Slovak Astronomical Clock in Stará Bystrica, or several observation towers. Continuing from Nová Bystrica along the Kysuce Cycling Route will bring you all the way to the Museum of the Kysuce Village open-air museum in Vychylovka.
The route runs along asphalt roads and is suitable for a road bike.
